“Ace of Killers Part Four”

The cover of Hitman #18 announces "Enter: Section Eight" in bold letters, and John McCrea's artwork delivers on that promise with a wonderfully chaotic assembly of costumed oddballs — a flame-spewing figure at the center, a green-clad hero in the background, a striped-suited rogue, a welding-masked character, and a large man in sunglasses looming at the foreground, among others. It's a gloriously overcrowded tableau that captures the darkly comedic tone Garth Ennis and McCrea had been crafting throughout this "Ace of Killers" arc. Part four of that storyline, this 1997 DC issue suggests things are about to get wonderfully messy.
