“Chapter 1 Aaaaaah!”
About this Collection

This graphic novel kicks off the Hilo series by introducing a mysterious boy who falls from the sky with no memory of who he is or where he came from. As he navigates his new life on Earth with the help of a friend, he discovers he has extraordinary powers—and that something dangerous is following him. The first volume collects the opening chapters of this action-packed, humorous sci-fi adventure for middle-grade readers.

Hilo #1 kicks off with a bang in "Chapter 1 Aaaaaah!" as the titular robot, newly arrived on Earth, confronts his first threat: an obliteratron robot sent by the tyrannical Razorwark. Written and illustrated by Judd Winick, with colors by Guy Major, the issue blends high-stakes action with heartfelt stakes as Hilo, a robot built to fight evil, must face his past and protect two new friends—D. J. and Gina—before returning to his doomed world to confront his greatest failure. The cover, also by Judd Winick, captures the moment with bold, dynamic energy.
