Jonah Hex looks thoroughly worse for wear on this April 1986 cover, rendered with raw energy by Denys Cowan and Dick Giordano — the scarred gunfighter is mid-brawl, revolver in one bandaged hand and a flaming weapon in the other, while a second battered figure tumbles beneath him in a tangle of fists and firearms. It's a frenetic, kinetic image that sets the tone perfectly for the story inside, "The Shooting Gallery," written by Fleisher with interior art by Ron Wagner and Carlos Garzón. Hex's sci-fi future setting gets a shot of wild, rough-and-tumble energy here that fans of the series will find hard to resist.
