Heroes for Hire #5

The 2011 Marvel team-up series delivers another charged chapter with this Doug Braithwaite cover, where a winged hero, an armored gunman, and a fierce afro-sporting woman in orange charges forward with gold-plated firepower — all set against the looming, unsettling visage of a massive blue-faced figure in the background. The team's combined energy blasts and weapons suggest the crew is fighting through serious opposition, with an additional white-costumed hero rounding out the assault. Written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning with interior art by Robert Atkins, this is street-level Marvel action with real attitude — "Lots of stylish action…Just buy it already!" says Ain't It Cool News, and it's hard to argue.
