From 1973 Marvel, Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #11 drops Cage right into a high-stakes clash set against a spinning roulette wheel — the tagline "Wheel of Fortune… Wheel of Doom!" says it all. The cover, penciled and inked by Billy Graham, captures Cage mid-battle with a long-haired, chain-wielding opponent, while a mysterious costumed figure looms nearby ready to strike. With the ominous note that "any way you slice it, Luke Cage is in trouble," this issue promises the kind of street-level danger that made Hero for Hire one of Marvel's most distinctive titles of its era.
