Hellspawn #15

Ben Templesmith's painted cover for this 2003 Image release presents Spawn cloaked in a sweeping crimson cape, his white-masked face framed by those unmistakable red horns and a small skull clasp at his chest, while a gauntleted fist grips what appears to be a weapon below. The moody, textured atmosphere Templesmith brings to both the cover and interior art gives Hellspawn a distinctly darker, more painterly feel than its parent title. "Hellworld Part III," written by Steve Niles, promises the concluding chapter of an arc that this haunting cover image suggests is anything but gentle.
