Hellspawn #14

Ben Templesmith's painted cover for Hellspawn #14 is a genuinely unsettling piece of work — a massive, shadowy figure crowned by a halo of fire looms over a flaming skull, while grasping pale hands reach up from the darkness below like something clawing its way free. The atmospherics are raw and painterly, all burnt oranges and smeared blacks that give the whole image a feeling of dread barely held in check. "Hellworld Part II" promises more of the dark supernatural territory that made this Steve Niles–written series such a compelling corner of the Spawn universe in 2002.
