Hellboy: Weird Tales #4

Issue four of Hellboy: Weird Tales brings the whole B.P.R.D. gang together on a striking cover by Leinil Francis Yu, with Hellboy's glowering red face at the center, flanked by Abe Sapien, Liz Sherman, and the looming presence of a massive supernatural entity overhead — all framed by skulls and tentacles that set a suitably ominous mood. The anthology format shines here, with John Cassaday pulling triple duty as writer, artist, and inker on the interior story "The Dread Within." Dark Horse's 2003 Hellboy universe was firing on all cylinders, and this issue is a fine example of the offbeat, collaborative spirit that made Weird Tales such a treat for fans.
