“Stations of the Cross Part Two of Three”

Mike Carey and Marcelo Frusin continue "Stations of the Cross" in this September 2004 Vertigo chapter, with a cover by Tim Bradstreet that sets an appropriately ominous tone. Bradstreet's painted imagery splits the composition between a skull-topped, ornate cross looming above and the weathered, haunted face of an aged man filling the lower half — the whole thing drenched in cold blues and silver that feel more like a threat than a prayer. It's a quietly unsettling piece of work that makes the religious iconography feel genuinely dangerous rather than merely decorative.
