John Constantine finds himself flat on his back in a boxing ring, cigarette still smoldering between his lips and his trademark trench coat splayed around him, as a flamboyant ringside announcer gestures dramatically into a microphone overhead — the whole scene draped in a bold American-flag backdrop of red, white, and blue. It's a wonderfully off-kilter image from cover artist Sean Phillips, perfectly suited to the Vertigo sensibility that defined the series. "Up the Down Staircase Part Two," written by Paul Jenkins with art by Warren Pleece, continues what promises to be a strange and compelling four-part journey for Britain's most reluctant occult detective.
