Sean Phillips's cover for Hellblazer #110 sets an immediately unsettling tone: a massive, ghostly face looms over a fiery red sky above what appears to be the Tower of London, while a dark swarm of birds — ravens, fittingly — spirals and scatters across the composition. Paul Jenkins kicks off his five-part "Last Man Standing" arc here, and this brooding visual makes a strong case for what's at stake. Vertigo's mature-readers horror series rarely looked more atmospheric than in this February 1997 installment.
