From DC's Vertigo imprint comes this December 1996 installment of John Constantine: Hellblazer, carrying the evocative story title "Days of Wine and Roses." Sean Phillips's cover art dominates with an unsettling green-skinned demonic face — horned, vine-draped, and adorned with dark fruit — looming large beside a contorted golden figure balanced precariously on gymnastics rings while another figure tumbles helplessly above, the whole composition radiating a deeply eerie, carnivalesque menace.
