Sue is so beautiful that nobody seems to care that she has a heart and a mind too. She is cast as the ugly duckling in a stage production so the audience will be stunned by the transformation into her beautiful self in the last act. Leaving rehearsals one evening without changing from her 'ugly duckling' role, she meets Philip who enjoys having a serious discussion with her. They continue seeing each other, but later at a cast party after the opening night show in a popular night spot, she sees Philip come in with a beautiful girl.
