Hawkman #40
The cover of Hawkman #40 (July 2005) delivers a striking, ominous image: a battered, winged Hawkman lies sprawled and vulnerable at the center, surrounded by a menacing group of figures — including a white-haired woman in black, a purple-clad winged female, and two hulking bestial forms looming overhead against a lightning-charged sky. Cover artists Joe Bennett and Ruy José stage the scene with real dramatic weight, the title "The Final Fall of Hawkman" leaving little doubt that things have gone badly for our winged hero. Writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti bring "Farewell My Enemy Part 4" to what promises to be a gripping conclusion to this arc.
