“Earth and Sky”

New York Nightmare!" sets the stage for this December 2004 team-up as Hawkman and Hawkgirl face off against — or perhaps alongside — the massive, chain-wielding Monolith across a gritty urban rooftop. Kevin Nowlan's cover art captures both winged warriors in dynamic poses, Hawkman lunging forward while Hawkgirl swoops in from above, the sheer scale of the towering Monolith making for a genuinely striking visual contrast. Written by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti with art by Andy Smith, "Earth and Sky" looks like a street-level New York adventure with plenty of raw power on display.
