Hawkeye #9
This 2013 issue of Marvel's Hawkeye announces itself with a cover that's as cool and confident as its subject: a young woman — arrows slung over her shoulder, red-lens sunglasses perched on her face — sports an "I ♥ Hawkeye" raglan tee, the bold graphic design by David Aja stripping everything down to stark black, white, and red. The minimalist style perfectly captures the series' street-level attitude, and with Matt Fraction writing and Matt Hollingsworth's restrained color work throughout the book, issue #9's story "Girls" promises a sharp, character-focused chapter in one of Marvel's most stylish ongoings of the era.
