Hawkeye #19
David Aja's honeycomb-panel cover for Hawkeye #19 is a masterclass in graphic design — warm golds, reds, and browns arranging fragmented glimpses of a figure in a coat, a scoped rifle, a rooftop water tower, and a bird in flight into something that feels both tense and quietly poetic. Matt Fraction, Aja, and colorist Matt Hollingsworth had already made this run visually distinctive, and this 2014 issue keeps that bold, stripped-down aesthetic front and center. "The Stuff What Don't Get Spoke" is a title that promises something understated and affecting — and the cover's mood more than backs that up.
