Hawkeye #17
David Aja's minimalist cover for issue #17 says it all with striking economy: a figure in Hawkeye's unmistakable red-and-black costume, quiver slung over one shoulder, stands with a vintage red television set where his head should be — the series logo displayed on its screen like a broadcast signal. The bold two-tone design is as clever as it is arresting, perfectly complementing the story's playfully titled "The MBC Wintertime Winter Friends Winter Fun Special." With Matt Fraction writing, Chris Eliopoulos handling art and lettering duties, and Jordie Bellaire's colors anchoring the palette, this 2014 issue is a genuinely inventive entry in one of Marvel's most creatively adventurous runs.
