Charlton's All New Haunted #8 (October 1972) leads with a cover by Jack Abel that pulls no punches: a lone, shirtless figure clutching a shovel stands his ground before a massive, moss-draped swamp creature whose glowing red eyes loom out of the murk like twin warning lights. The tagline "The Lure of the Swamp!" sets an atmosphere of dread that feels perfectly at home in Charlton's horror line. Inside, writer Joe Gill and artist Steve Ditko bring their considerable talents to the story "She's Waiting," making this a satisfying package of early-'70s supernatural chills at a cover price of just 20 cents.
