Baron Weirwulf's shadowy world gets a full showcase in this 1980 Charlton anthology, with a trench-coated figure looming against a nighttime cityscape while scattered story-teasers — "Escape!," "The Desert," and "Test of Man" — flutter around him like pages caught in a haunted wind. Steve Ditko handles every interior story as well as the cover, making this an unusually cohesive single-artist package for horror-anthology fans. With Joe Gill's scripts and Ditko's unmistakable linework throughout, Haunted #49 is a satisfying dive into Charlton's eerie late-period anthology output.
