Harry Dickson #2
The second album in Dupuis's Harry Dickson series brings Jean Ray's legendary pulp detective to Belgian comics in fine style, with cover art by Onofrio Catacchio presenting three determined figures — Dickson at the center in his trademark trench coat, flanked by a younger companion brandishing a pistol and flashlight and a uniformed officer — advancing through a tangle of gnarled red and blue branches beneath the glowing red eyes of a looming supernatural presence. That brooding, atmospheric composition captures exactly the blend of detective grit and gothic menace that defines the "Het Schriktribunaal" storyline. Colorist Hiroyuki Ooshima's deep blues and burning reds give the cover a genuinely unsettling mood that should make this 2024 volume hard to pass up.
