Harrow County #3
Tyler Crook's cover for this third issue of Cullen Bunn and Crook's Southern Gothic series is a genuinely unsettling image: two young figures clutch their lanterns below while a wave of flaming, skeletal apparitions looms enormous behind them, all rendered in scorching oranges and reds that make the supernatural threat feel almost uncomfortably close. The contrast between the small, wide-eyed characters in the foreground and the roiling mass of burning haints overhead captures exactly the dread atmosphere that earned Harrow County a Michael Chabon endorsement right there on the cover. With "All Hallows' Eve" as the story title, issue #3 makes clear that Bunn and Crook have no intention of easing up on the creeping, folkloric terror at the heart of this series.
