Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #5
This volume concludes the 'Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps' series, collecting issues #41–50. The story arc, 'Twilight of the Guardians,' sees the Green Lanterns facing their greatest challenge as the ancient Guardians of the Universe make a desperate final stand against the cosmic threat of the Controllers. Writer Robert Venditti and artist Rafa Sandoval deliver an action-packed finale that reshapes the future of the Corps and its members, including Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Guy Gardner.
In "Mind Games Part One: Rude Awakening," Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps launch a daring assault on the Controllers to free the imprisoned Guardians, only to find themselves outmatched—until the freed Guardians join the fight. With the surviving six Guardians of the Universe (Ganthet, Sayd, Rami, Paalko, Zalla, and Kada Sal) ready to reclaim their role in guiding the Corps, the battle shifts, but the Controllers escape with a new threat in mind: a fresh army of Darkstars. Written by Robert Venditti and illustrated by Jack Herbert, José Luís, and a team of inkers including Mick Gray and Cam Smith, with colors by Jason Wright and letters by Dave Sharpe, the issue’s dynamic art and escalating tension are perfectly captured in Ethan Van Sciver’s striking cover.
