Hack/Slash #3
Issue three of Image's Hack/Slash arrives in 2011 with a cover — penciled and inked by writer Tim Seeley himself — that throws an overwhelming wave of horror at our red-bandana'd protagonist, who backs away pistol raised as a green-skinned undead slasher lunges overhead, a jack-o'-lantern-headed robed figure brandishes a blade nearby, and a panicked blonde woman, snarling mutant dogs, and a tide of grasping hands press in from every side. It's a genuinely chaotic tableau that captures the series' anything-goes approach to slasher-movie mayhem with real craft and energy. "Crossroads" sounds like exactly the kind of issue where the threats just keep piling on — and this cover makes a compelling case for picking it up.
