Hack/Slash #17

Cassie Hack stands her ground, blades in hand and gas mask firmly in place, as a monstrous, rotting green giant looms directly behind her — and the story arc is boldly titled "Bad Grandpa!" It's a striking image that captures exactly what Hack/Slash does best: putting its tough, resourceful heroine face-to-face (or rather, face-to-enormous-decaying-face) with something truly horrifying. Published during Image Comics' 20th anniversary, this issue is a fine example of the series' gleeful blend of horror and attitude.
