Gwandanaland Comics #2006

This 2018 Gwandanaland Comics volume collects Golden Age MLJ Comics material, centering on the patriotic powerhouse The Shield — seen on the reproduced Pep Comics #2 cover by Irv Novick, where the stars-and-stripes-clad hero charges dynamically across a wartime scene, fending off grasping hands while battleships loom in the background. Also featured inside are characters spotlighted on that cover: Sergeant Boyle, The Comet, Fu Chang, and Press-Guardian, with interior art by Charles Biro. At 64 pages of all-color Golden Age action, it's a wonderful window into the earliest days of MLJ's superhero universe.
