This 2017 Gwandanaland Comics collection reprints issues #140–147 of the celebrated crime anthology Crime Does Not Pay, bringing together five giant stories of police in courageous action against dangerous criminals. Charles Biro's cover — rendered entirely by his own hand in both pencils and inks — puts the tension front and center: a uniformed officer struggles with a yellow-suited criminal over a gun while a fallen figure lies in the foreground, with a inset panel showing a sharp-dressed man menacing another character at close range. It's a vivid snapshot of the hard-boiled, case-file storytelling that made this series a defining voice in mid-century crime comics.
