Gunsmoke Western #59
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis July 1960 issue of Gunsmoke Western packs serious value into a single dime, promising not one but two Kid Colt, Outlaw thrillers — "The Guns of Don Drago!" and "Ambush at Arrowhead Creek!" — plus a Two-Gun Kid adventure. Jack Kirby's cover pencils (inked by Dick Ayers) deliver the goods in lively split-panel fashion: on the left, Kid Colt trades blows and gunfire with a rugged opponent aboard what appears to be a wooden structure, while on the right he stands his ground in red shirt and white hat against a whole crowd of armed men in rocky terrain. A bottom strip teases the Two-Gun Kid story with a tense street scene and the shouted warning, "No! No! Don't draw! Don't!" — suggesting someone is making a very deliberate, very risky choice to back down.
