Grounded #3
Issue three of Image's Grounded finds its young superhero protagonist at the center of a quietly tense composition — dressed in his red-and-black costume with a bold sunburst emblem, he looks strained and uncertain while several other teens move around him, one with horns looming near a vault-like circular door in the background. Silhouetted wings and a masked figure spread dramatically across the lower portion of the cover, casting a shadow over the whole scene and hinting at pressures closing in from all sides. Paul Azaceta's linework gives the image a grounded, almost indie-film feel that suits Mark Sable's series perfectly.
