Grimm Fairy Tales: Return to Wonderland #5

Jan 2008 · Zenescope Entertainment · 2.99 USD; 3.75 CAD

In *Grimm Fairy Tales: Return to Wonderland #5*, the twisted logic of Wonderland reaches a breaking point as the Cheshire Cat eliminates the Queen of Hearts and turns his gaze on Calie. Just as all seems lost, Lacie—revealed to be a younger version of Calie’s mother, Alice—emerges from within the Cat, forcing a desperate escape back to the real world. But even beyond the looking glass, the story isn’t done: Alice’s final words echo with dread, and a haunting voice signals that the tale may never truly end. Written by Raven Gregory, Ralph Tedesco, and Joe Tyler, with art by Daniel Leister and cover by Al Rio, this issue delivers a chilling, dreamlike descent into a world where memory and madness blur.

In Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat kills the Queen of Hearts and all her men. It is about to kill Calie when Lacie, who had been eaten by the Cheshire Cat earlier, kills it from the inside and emerges. Calie learns that Lacie is a younger version of her mother, Alice. Lacie forces Calie to leave Wonderland and return to the real world. Back in the real world, Calie asks her mother if any of it was real and Alice replies that there is no escape. That night, a voice tells Alice it is time to end the story and she hangs herself.
