Gotham by Midnight #5

Issue five of this New 52 supernatural series delivers one of 2015's most unsettling covers, with Ben Templesmith's art conjuring a massive, screaming hooded entity crackling with green and blue supernatural energy — ghostly winged forms swirling around it — while a lone figure below reaches upward into the chaos. The sheer scale of the supernatural threat looming over that solitary human presence captures everything that makes Gotham by Midnight such a compelling corner of the DC universe. Ray Fawkes and Templesmith are clearly leaning hard into the horror side of Gotham with "Judgment on Gotham," and this cover makes a strong case for why.
