Goofy Comics #44

Goofy Gander and his pal Wally Wolf stow away on a ship bound for Hawaii, dreaming of tropical adventure—but their voyage proves far more chaotic than they bargained for. After a series of mishaps at sea lands them in the brig, the duo finally reach the islands, only to find themselves caught between harbor patrol, mysterious pursuers, and a diamond hidden in a tie they never asked for. When a Luau Club becomes their unlikely refuge, Goofy and Wally must scramble to stay one step ahead of crooks using them as unwitting smugglers.

Wally Wolf desperately needs cash to escape to the mountains—he's in debt all over town—so he convinces the gullible Goofy Gander to lend him money to buy an "indestructible" watch that promises to double their cash if it breaks. What follows is a hilarious escalation of schemes as Wally attempts every destruction method he can dream up, from stomping to steamrollers to meat grinders, all while the stubborn watch refuses to cooperate. When Goofy's sneeze finally does the trick, Wally's dreams of easy money go up in smoke—though Goofy finds a silver lining in the chaos.

Buddy Bear tries to keep his sister's triplets entertained by buying them a tricycle, but the three kids immediately squabble over who gets to ride it. When threats of taking it back fail to stop their bickering, Buddy discovers the youngsters have found their own creative—if unexpected—solution to sharing the toy.

Stuffy Pig refuses a job at the circus—until his pride gets the better of him and he ends up tangling with the clown performers in a chaotic battle of squirt guns and slapstick mishaps. By the time the dust settles, Stuffy finds himself caught up in the very world he'd dismissed as undignified in "Circus Today," a four-page romp from Goofy Comics #44.
