Arthur Adams delivers a cover that puts Anguirus front and center — the armored, spike-backed kaiju roaring with jaws wide open amid crumbling city buildings and billowing smoke, every jagged scale rendered with impressive detail. This 2011 IDW series spotlights some of the Toho universe's most beloved monsters in their own standalone spotlights, and issue #1 kicks things off by giving Anguirus the starring role under the "Godzilla Legends" banner. With interior work by writer Jeff Prezenkowski and artist Matt Frank bringing "The Underdog" to life, this is a fine starting point for fans who've always had a soft spot for the tenacious ankylosaur of monster cinema.
