“Love Wears No Crown”

A charming snapshot of mid-century romance, this 1950 DC issue features a photo-style cover of a young woman in a soft blue sweater cradling a small white flower while a smiling young man leans close beside her — an intimate, sun-dappled moment that perfectly sets the mood. The teaser copy promises something a little regal: "Romance may even reach a princess, I discovered, for… 'Love Wears No Crown!'" Fifty-two big pages for a dime made Girls' Romances #6 a genuine bargain for readers who believed that love, in the end, answers to no one.

Sophisticated “career woman” Lucinda returns to her hometown under her real name Lucy, and meets handsome Tracy. Tracy thinks she is “sweet and unsophisticated” and they fall in love. Tracy’s ex-girlfriend Fay recognises Lucy and reveals the truth to Tracy, who is angry. However, Lucy rescues Fay after a boating accident, and Tracy says he loves her no matter who she is.
