“Partners in Romance”

In "Partners in Romance," a quiet girl named Laura steps into the spotlight when she answers a love letter meant for her glamorous younger sister, Jo—posing as Jo in a correspondence that blurs identity and intention. As the letters turn to a real connection, Ray’s visit brings unexpected danger and a moment of truth when a misplaced signature reveals all. Carmine Infantino’s expressive art brings emotional depth to this tender 1950s tale, while Ted Koepper’s cover captures the story’s delicate tension with a striking, period-perfect image.

Laura grows up in the shadow of her more glamorous younger sister Jo. Ray, her brother’s roommate in another town, writes Jo a love letter after seeing her photo; Jo dismisses it but Laura replies in Jo’s name. Laura and Ray correspond, with Laura posing as “Jo.” He finally visits, and Jo finds him handsome so she doesn’t reveal the truth. Ray falls in a bog and Laura rescues him. He confesses he loves her and knew the truth because she accidentally signed her own name to a photo of Jo she’d sent him.
