Girls' Love Stories #3
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeA sun-drenched photo-style cover sets the mood perfectly for this 1949 DC romance anthology — a smiling couple share an easy, affectionate moment on a beach blanket, the young woman in a green swimsuit leaning into her companion as warm chemistry radiates between them. The teaser copy promises heartache ahead, hinting that the southern-sands romance of "Empty Arms" won't end as happily as this carefree scene suggests. Fifty-two pages of romantic stories for a dime made Girls' Love Stories #3 a genuine treat for fans of the genre's golden era.

Bonnie can't get a job in the city because all she can do is cook and sew. One day, she offers to cook for a harried diner operator and her lunches become a sensation among office workers in the neighborhood. She delivers one to lawyer Ken Wilson, and they are soon dating and falling in love. Ken's boss, Evelyn Leith, asks Bonnie to bake and deliver a cake for his birthday party. When she arrives at the party, she finds Evelyn has claimed Ken as her own. Bonnie is hurt, and decides to return to the farm. Ken finds her at the train station, gives her a ring, and proposes.
