Marianne and June work together at Hale's Department Store. Marianne sees June's boyfriend, Tim, for the first time when he comes to the store to pick up June for a date. Marianne is envious of her friend's boyfriend, but June is getting bored with him. She asks Marianne to lie for her as she breaks a date with Tim so she can go out with Gary, but Tim discovers the truth. As Tim is getting over June, he starts seeing Marianne regularly. When June breaks up with Gary and tries to stir up her old relationship with Tim, he realizes he now loves Marianne.
