Girls' Crystal #953 is an anthology issue containing multiple stories. "Friends of the Gipsy Skater" depicts Carol Fenton rescuing her friend Mitzi, a gypsy girl imprisoned in a Swiss water-mill by her villainous guardian Scarpio, by skiing down the mill roof and helping Mitzi escape via rope. "Hetty & Hal in Holland" by Elise Probyn follows two children who discover an old map leading to a hidden castle treasure, deciphering Dutch clues and navigating through snowy ruins to find coins and solve the mystery. The issue also features "The Schoolgirls' Own Library" section advertising two books: "The Girl Detectives' First Case" by Christine Landon and "Tess and the Hermit Boy" by Hazel Armitage.
