Secretary Judy and her boss Phillip fall in love. She’s ashamed of her humble Irish origins and that her widowed mother is a laundress, so she claims her parents are dead. When Judy’s mother is injured in a traffic accident in front of Phillip and Judy, Judy denies knowing her. Judy is guilt-stricken. Phillip and his parents visit Judy and her mother: Phillip’s father says he used to live in the same neighbourhood, and became rich via a “lucky break!” Phillip and Judy’s marriage is fine with them.
