A telegram arrives for a small mouse character, who bosses around his companion by demanding the message be given to him, claiming he's "the boss here." After a scuffle over the telegram, the two mice manage to grab it, leading to a chase involving a white cat. Later, a man and woman attempt to rid their property of the mice by plugging holes and turning on water, but the mice outsmart them at every turn, including using a vase as shelter and evading the cat. The scheme ultimately backfires when water floods into their hiding spot, forcing the mice to flee to safety while the frustrated humans and cat are left dealing with the mess they created.

A well-meaning stork keeps trying to deliver a baby to the same reluctant father, using every trick in the book—from the cute approach to appeals to paternal instinct to sheer persistence—but nothing seems to stick. When the stork shows up the next night with another delivery for the same customer, it's clear this is going to be one job that just won't quit!
