DC's long-running supernatural anthology reaches issue #106 with a cover by Joe Kubert that pulls you right into the chill — a fencer in white gear recoils in horror, sword in hand, as a glowing spectral figure extends a ghostly arm toward him with the taunt, "Your play now, Master Swordsman!" The blood-red moon looming behind the terrified duelist makes it clear his opponent this round is something no amount of skill can parry. With interior work from writer Robin Snyder and artist Howard Bender inked by Adrian Gonzales, this 1981 issue delivers exactly the kind of eerie, twist-laden storytelling that made Ghosts a staple of DC's horror line.
