For a hundred years, the family of Sir Matthew Fell meet violent ends at Castringham Hall due to the vengeance of a witch whom Sir Matthew had killed. Finally, the ash-tree at the hall is found to be full of giant killer spiders. When the tree is burned down, the witch's remains are discovered.
