“The Secret Fire”

In "The Secret Fire," Dan follows a haunting vision as Naomi's spirit reveals the forgotten past of Noble Kale, the original Ghost Rider. Set in the 18th century, the story unfolds with a tragic tale of betrayal, vengeance, and a soul forged in fire—when Noble’s father Destin murdered his wife Magdalena, a witch, and summoned the Ghost Rider to protect him. The Spirit of Vengeance was born not from a single side, but from a cosmic clash between Mephisto and Uriel, who agreed the Rider would answer to neither Heaven nor Hell. Written by Ivan Velez Jr. and illustrated by Javier Saltares, with inks by Mark Texeira and colors by Brian Buccellato, the cover by Saltares captures the eerie intensity of a legacy reborn.

Naomi's spirit causes Dan to witness how Noble Kale became the Ghost Rider: in the 18th century, Noble's wife Magdalena was killed by Noble's father Destin for being a witch. Magdalena summoned the Furies and to defend himself, Destin transformed Noble into the Ghost Rider to defend him. Mephisto and Uriel disputed over who the Ghost Rider belonged to and decided he would be a Spirit of Vengeance, rather than serving either Heaven or Hell.
