Written by Ivan Velez Jr. and illustrated by Josh Hood, with inks by Derek Fisher and colors by Brian Buccellato, this powerful story redefines the cost of justice in a world where even the innocent can become weapons. Ghost Rider breaks up a gang of Chinese slavers. One of the intended slaves, Lian, escapes during the fighting, but finds no one to help her on the streets. Dan eventually catches up to her, but so do the slavers and she's shot to death. Blackheart then transforms Lian into the Chinese Spirit of Vengeance: Pao Fu.
