Georgie Comics launched in March 1945 under the Timely Comics banner with Stan Lee as editor, riding the postwar boom in teen-humor titles inspired by the success of Archie. By the time issue #25 went to press — released November 13, 1949, with a February 1950 cover date — Lee was contributing individual stories directly (he is credited as writer on the lead story 'Pop's Second Childhood!'), while other stories in the issue went uncredited. The cover was provided by Peter Driben, one of the most prolific commercial pin-up and glamour artists of the 1940s and '50s, who had a longstanding working relationship with publisher Martin Goodman across several of his magazine imprints; Driben's artwork for this very cover was later recycled as the cover of the Humorama digest Joker Vol. 4, #28 in April 1953.
