“Georgie Gets Clipped!”

Georgie Comics #14 from 1948 captures "America's Laff-Wit" at his most gloriously distracted — on the cover by Mike Sekowsky, Georgie is supposed to be writing "I won't let girls take my mind off my school work" on the blackboard, but he's spotted two girls outside the window and erupted into a wolf-whistle frenzy, while his horrified teacher clutches her face in exasperation. The thought bubble floating above shows Georgie's daydream in full swing, making it clear the lines on that chalkboard aren't doing a bit of good. With the story "Georgie Gets Clipped!" waiting inside, this ten-cent slice of postwar teen humor delivers exactly the cheerful mayhem Timely fans came to love.
