George R.R. Martin's A Clash of Kings #12

Dynamite's adaptation of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire continues with this 2018 installment, and Mike S. Miller's cover art delivers a thrilling glimpse of Westeros at war — a fully armored knight on horseback surges forward, battle-axe raised and rose-emblazoned shield in hand, against a smoldering crimson sky. The charging warhorse and sweeping striped banner beneath the knight give the whole composition a kinetic, almost overwhelming energy that perfectly captures the brutal grandeur of A Clash of Kings. With Landry Q. Walker adapting Martin's source material and Mel Rubi on interior art, issue #12 looks to be another vivid chapter in this faithful comics translation of one of fantasy's great epics.
