“When Caitlin Ruled the Lizards”
About this Collection

This volume collects the second story arc of the 2008 Gen13 series, following the team of young superhumans as they hit the road and navigate a cross-country journey filled with danger and self-discovery. Written by Simon Oliver with art by Carlo Barberi, the trade paperback includes issues #7-12 of the monthly series.

In "When Caitlin Ruled the Lizards," Fairchild takes the lead as the Authoriteens are sent back to their alternate universe, leaving the team grappling with the aftermath of Kid Apollo's death. Gail Simone's writing, brought to life by Kevin West’s art and Sunny Lee’s colors, explores the emotional fallout as Grunge battles guilt—helped by the team’s quiet support—while Megan’s desperate attempt to control the Gen 14 clones leads to a tragic turning point. The issue’s powerful character moments are rendered with care, and Carlo Barberi’s cover captures the tension in a striking, moody image.

Fairchild narrates this issue. The "Authoriteens" are forced back to their alternate universe. Grunge has a sort of breakdown from the guilt of killing Kid Apollo. Fairchild tends him the most but they all try to help him overcome his guilt. Megan makes the Gen 13/Cross clones (Gen 14) attack M.T. and Gen 13 but when she realizes the clones might reject her, Megan kills them and then herself. The fight frees Grunge from his guilt and M.T. will be fine.
