A haunted, skull-strewn underground setting frames this "Fearful Finale" of Charles Adlard's run on Gen 13 Bootleg, and the cover — rendered entirely by Adlard in pencils and inks — makes the stakes unmistakably clear. A cluster of wide-eyed young heroes huddles together in apparent terror, one clutching a rifle, while shambling figures close in from the shadows behind them. Writer Christopher Golden and artist Adlard bring their story, "The Numbskulls," to an appropriately creepy close with this 1998 Image/Wildstorm chapter that leans hard into horror atmosphere.
