The third volume of Gaston's German-language series at Carlsen Comics carries the perfectly apt subtitle Gala der Katastrophen — and the cover delivers on that promise immediately. Gaston himself grins front and center with his signature dopey charm, hands tucked contentedly into his green sweater, while behind him a desk erupts in scattered papers and smoldering chaos, and a frantic colleague dashes in from the left looking suitably alarmed. Franquin's wonderfully expressive linework, signed right on the cover, captures everything lovable about this disaster-prone office slacker in a single glance.
